Keep It Simple Doctor...,

Three steps to your non clinical career

NonClinical Diagnosis Re-Packaging Implementation

Are you familiar with the "KISS" principal? It's an often used business term meaning Keep It Simple Stupid. Physicians too often try to complicate their own career transitions:

  • "I need another degree."

  • "That certification would be helpful."

  • "I just don't have the credentials I believe I need."

  • "My only experience is my clinical practice."

We more appropriately speak of the KISD (pronounced, "kissed") principal. Keep It Simple Doctor.

Seeking a nonclinical career is the beginning of a journey and your endpoint may be unknown or at best, somewhat ambiguous. Regardless, what you need to know is the first step - the second step - the process.

When you decided to become a physician the process was laid out in front of you. Today, you don't know where to find the process - you don't know where to begin. I'll show you the right path to follow. I'll show you that career change, although never easy, is attainable and is certainly easier than you think now.

You need a clearly defined process that's not nearly as complex as you imagine it to be.

    Here it is...

    • Phase I - your career diagnosis  It's about collecting subjective and objective data in order to create your assessment and develop the right plan.

      • Defining your list of desirable (subjective) and appropriate (objective) careers.

      • Agreeing on your nonclinical career focus - your next job or business opportunity

      • Developing your action plan - career change process points, milestones, timelines

    • Phase II - developing your prescription plan - Re-Packaging. After you know your diagnosis you need a prescription plan, you'll need materials, a package, to present yourself... something that tells others your scope of applicable skills.

      • Your stump speech

      • Your resume

      • Your telephone script

      • Or your business plan

      • Your web site... more

    • Phase III - Implementing your treatment plan Implementation is very high level, hands on, patient compliance. I'll manage your process for and with you to a successful conclusion.

      • Networking

      • Meeting management

      • Interviewing strategy

      • Salary negotiations

      • Executive coaching
